REVIEW: "The Naples Quilters Guild had Robin come to our show as an appraiser. She was incredibly informative and helpful to everyone who brought in a quilt for her to appraise. We loved having her."

CUSTOM HAND WORK~
Handwork is a passion of mine whether it be needle-turn applique, embroidery, English Paper Piecing, or Hand Quilting. Yes the process is slower but the feeling of pride and accomplishment is wonderful. There is such a meditative quality to feeling the fabric between your fingers and the repetitive stitch rhythm. I am always delighted when someone wants to be able to offer this heirloom piece of history to a friend or loved one and am honored to help them deliver.
I pride myself on being a HERITAGE ARCHITECT by working one on one with people to complete their individual family history/legacy/story. This comes in many forms whether a found, started piece from a passed relative or helping you to complete something in a way that is beyond your ability at the moment to tell your story to future generations.
On my WHAT'S NEW page you will find links to my HERITAGE STORIES. These are stories about some of the completed legacies I have had the honor to be a part of by picking up my needle and finishing the thread started by fellow stitching story tellers.
Over the years (16 if you are counting:) I have not only developed my skills but a customer base as well. Below you will find pricing for Hand Quilting, binding, and custom / commission services. I realize every quilt and project is unique, so please feel free to email any question(s) you may have to robin@nestlingsbyrobin.com
Information to include in your email:
-Size and pattern of your quilt top (a photo would be helpful).
-Type of quilting pattern you would like (Outline/Grid/Straight-line or Design/Pattern).
-Any and all services requested (design from scratch, basting, binding, or quilting only).
-Any special requests (date needed), comments, or questions.
Once we have discussed your project via email and have agreed upon the specifics of the project, all relevant information will be put into a contract/invoice for your review. You will be responsible for all shipping costs and a 50% deposit will be required before work will begin. Your email acknowledgement of the Invoice will be your signature. Once I have received your project components (quilt) and the deposit, I will begin.

Hand Quilting Fees:
Outline, Grid, In the Ditch, or Straight line quilting = $25 per square foot.
Stencil Design or Patterns = $26-$30 per square foot depending on complexity and spacing of the design (marking fee is included).
My stitches run 7-9 to the inch and all work is done in a smoke free home.
I do have non shedding pups that are NOT allowed on the work! I don't want them on mine either:)
There is a $100 (roughly 4 square feet) order minimum.

Backings:
This should be 100% cotton and be large enough to cover width and length of your quilt PLUS an additional 6" added to the width and length to allow me a bit extra for fitting into the hoop.
I prefer you provide the backing but if for some reason this isn't possible, I will take care of it and add the cost to your invoice.

Batting:
There are many options for batting and this will be addressed during our conversations about your particular project. I have quilted with Hobbs 80/20 in the past but have found that the Dream Poly is just lovely to quilt as well as being light and warm. You may choose to provide your own or again I can provide it with the cost presented up front before being added to your invoice.

Basting:
Basting is the process of holding the top, batting, and backing together temporarily while the hand quilting is done. This keeps the layers from shifting while being moved multiple times during the quilting process. You can send your quilt pre-basted with small pins or thread, or I will baste it for you and add the fee to your invoice. Please be sure it is done properly to avoid me having to redo it and charge you for it. FEES: Crib=$40 Throw=$50 Twin=$60 Full=$70 Queen=$85 King=$100 |
Tulip Sweet is an original design of NESTLINGS by Robin and measures 64" square (28 sq ft). It is machine pieced, hand appliqued, hand quilted, and hand beaded. This is an example of the $24 quilting fee plus a custom fee of an additional $2 per square foot to include the use of variegated thread.
Example Pricing= $672.00 without variegated thread. A duplicate of this quilt (in your color choice) would be $2200.00 |
Binding:
I make double-layer, continuous bindings by piecing 2-1/2" strips, pressing in half, sewing to the front of the quilt with mitered corners, bringing to the back of the quilt, and hand stitching in place every 1/8" of an inch. I feel that this method gives me more control over the neatness of the edges and I have been complimented on my bindings by show judges.
You provide the fabric for the binding and the yardage needed will be discussed ahead of shipping or if you prefer to do your own, the quilt will be returned to you after quilting.
The fees below are ESTIMATED at $3 per running foot based on standard quilt sizes. Fee INCLUDES the cutting/assembling of the binding, attaching it to the quilt, and hand stitching it to the back.
FEES: Crib (30" x 60")= $45 Throw/Twin (50" x 72")=$60 Double/Full (60" x 75")=$65
Queen (70" x 80")=$75 King (80" x 96")=$90
Larger quilts will be charged based on actual measurements.
